A 23-year-old Rochester Hills man was killed in a single car crash on northbound Interstate 75, near the Rochester Road exit, that occurred about 4 a.m. March 6.

According to the police report, Joseph Adam Zelinski lost control of the black, 2006 Ford Fusion  he was driving. It reportedly went off the exit ramp and struck a light pole.

He was alone in the car, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to the police report.

Troy police Sgt. Meghan Lehman said police believe he was returning home from work.

The Troy Fire Department extricated him from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life. He was transported to Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, where he died.

Lehman said it had just started to snow and police are investigating whether that was a factor.

The exit ramp from northbound I-75 to Rochester Road was closed for about two hours while police investigated.

Police continue to investigate.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Troy Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit at (248) 524-3477.
