CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Police continue to investigate a domestic fatal shooting.

Clinton Township Police Department Capt. Richard Maierle said that at about 10:07 p.m. Sept. 28, officers were called to Stafford Street, near 14 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue.

A 26-year-old Clinton Township man, who was later determined to be the suspect, was reportedly firing rounds from a long gun in front of his aunt’s house. The aunt and her son, who live at the home, were at a concert at the time.

“People could actually hear the rounds being fired,” Maierle said.

After reportedly shooting out a car window, the suspect dropped the gun. Police retrieved the weapon and arrested the suspect without incident.

Police checked the aunt’s house following the arrest, and found a 26-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her face. The woman was later confirmed to be the suspect’s wife.

She was taken to McLaren Macomb Hospital, where died she from her injuries at about 9:48 p.m. Sept. 29.

At press time, Maierle said police were waiting on the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office for further action. The suspect could potentially be arraigned Oct. 1.
