MACOMB TOWNSHIP — The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 46-year-old Madison Heights man was arrested by deputies Feb. 27 in Macomb Township.

The man, David Allen Mapley, is now facing six charges related to his arrest.

Mapley allegedly placed an advertisement on a popular website, and detectives posing as an underage girl responded to the post.

Through that website and an additional social media site, the Sheriff’s Office reported that the man continued to message the account despite his belief that the person he was communicating with was underage.

Mapley then allegedly arranged to meet with the youth at a Macomb Township location for the purposes of engaging in sexual activity. Mapley was arrested upon arriving at the prearranged location.

The investigation was conducted by the sheriff’s Macomb Area Computer Enforcement  (MACE) team.

Mapley was video-arraigned at Clinton Township 41-B District Court on Feb. 29. He was charged with three counts of child sexually abusive activity, which are 20-year felonies. He is also facing two charges of using a computer to commit a crime and a count of accosting a child for immoral purposes.

Mapley is next due in court at 8:30 a.m. March 14. At his arraignment, Mapley was given a $75,000 cash-or-surety bond.

As of press time, no attorney had yet been assigned to Mapley.
