Looking Back: Winter 1938

Mount Clemens - Clinton - Harrison Journal | Published February 22, 2018

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — The winter of 2018 has been rough, with all the snow and ice and frigid temperatures. This 1938 Detroit News photo shows that these conditions are nothing new to Clinton River business owners and residents.

High water and flooding are cyclical. Every now and then, they create havoc. Sandbags and/or dykes are needed to keep the water at bay. Since the open area on the right of the picture is now filled with the homes of the Venice Shores subdivision, we can only hope that all of this year’s snow does not result in a re-creation of this photo.
