WARREN — A police investigation was ongoing Aug. 17 after Warren firefighters found a 55-year-old man deceased in a burning home near Eight Mile and Gratiot.

Detective Sgt. Stephen Mills of the Warren Police Department confirmed that a dead body was found at the home on La Salle Boulevard, south of Toepfer. It was unknown how the man died, and further details were withheld as the investigation continued.

Warren Fire Commissioner Skip McAdams said firefighters were dispatched to a home in the 21000 block of LaSalle Boulevard after a neighbor called 911 at 8:07 a.m.

“We arrived to find the address with fire venting out of the kitchen area,” McAdams said. “The first crew went to the fire, the second crew went into search and rescue.”

McAdams said the victim was found on the bedroom floor.

“He was removed from the structure and CPR was initiated,” McAdams said. “He was pronounced dead on the scene. The fire was brought under control within several minutes and was completely out within 20 minutes.”

The scene and the investigation were turned over to the control of the Warren Police Department. No further details were immediately available.
