FARMINGTON HILLS — An early morning armed robbery incident is under investigation by the Farmington Hills Police Department.

According to a news release, a suspect entered the Speedway gas station at the intersection of Eight Mile and Farmington roads at approximately 3:32 a.m. Oct. 4 and proceeded to walk behind the front counter.

The suspect removed a knife from his pocket and held it to the gas station clerk’s back, demanding money from the register. The suspect secured the money from the register and fled to his vehicle in the parking lot.

The clerk was not injured in the incident. Farmington Hills Police Chief Jeff King said approximately $600 was stolen from the gas station, which has video surveillance cameras.

Investigators within his department have been able to speak with the clerk involved in the incident, King said, though no new information was gathered than what is currently available.

“No additional information on motive, and no statements made by the suspect,” he said.

Police report that the suspect is 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a medium build. He was wearing black clothing, a black baseball cap and a black mask. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a late 1980s to early 1990s two-tone Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Police are asking anyone who has information about the incident or who may recognize the suspect or his vehicle to contact the Farmington Hills Police Department Command Desk by at (248) 871-2610.

If identified and caught, King said, the suspect could be possibly facing an armed robbery charge.
