Fundraiser to benefit police killed in line of duty

MACOMB COUNTY — There will be a fundraiser from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 27 at Coyote Joe’s, 49440 Ryan Road in Shelby Township to benefit the Police Unity Tour 2016: Team Rolling Bacon.

The six-member team is comprised of law enforcement officials from the Shelby Township Police Department, the Sterling Heights Police Department and the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. Team Rolling Bacon will take part in a four-day, 300-mile bicycle ride from New Jersey to Washington D.C. in May to honor police officer’s killed in the line of duty. Each team that participates in the ride must raise $1,800 and funds are also needed for overhead costs associated with the trip and ride. The remaining proceeds will go to the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Fund.

Tickets to the fundraiser can be purchased in advance or at the door and cost $20, which includes food and select beverages. There will be a 50/50 drawing, music, door prizes and prize raffles throughout the night.
