MACOMB TOWNSHIP — An upcoming golf outing is all about bringing folks together.

The fifth annual Friends of Macomb Township golf outing will take place Aug. 26 at Sycamore Hills Golf Club, 48787 North Ave.

The day will begin with registration and the driving range opening at 7:30 a.m. A continental breakfast will be served at 8 a.m., and the tee-off time will be 9 a.m. Lunch is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Golfers will be added on a first-come, first-served basis with a capacity of 144 golfers. The cost is $125 a person or $500 per foursome. Checks should be made payable to “Friends of Macomb Township” and can be mailed to P.O. Box 435, 51194 Romeo Plank Road, Macomb Township, MI 48042 by Aug. 12.

Last year, around 70 golfers participated in the outing.

“Golf brings people together and is a great place to talk to people,” Friends of Macomb Township Director Kerry Jantz said. “You’re playing golf with somebody for five hours. It’s a great opportunity to showcase what your organization is about and what you’re trying to accomplish.”

To learn more about the outing, call Friends of Macomb Township President R.J. Koss at (586) 291-2422 or Friends of Macomb Township Treasurer Mike Fontana at (248) 224-5583.

“It’s great to get people together and raise money for the causes and some of the things we do in the community,” Jantz said. “We want to have resources for when the library or Parks and Recreation Department contacts us and needs help with something, whether it’s a small or large request.”

Friends of Macomb Township was created as a nonprofit charitable organization in 2004 by a group of Macomb Township citizens and community leaders.
