Woman dies following West Bloomfield house explosion

Three children and three adults were evacuated from a home on Stonecrest Road in West Bloomfield Township following an explosion April 30.

The three adults were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment, with one of them, a 41-year-old woman, later being pronounced dead.

According to a press release, at 11:18 p.m. April 30, West Bloomfield rescue personnel received information that there had been an explosion at the residence, and the township's police and fire departments responded to the scene.

They encountered a severely injured woman in the kitchen of the residence.

"We have not seen any signs of criminal activity," West Bloomfield Police Department Deputy Chief Curt Lawson wrote via email. "The investigation is continuing."
