ST. CLAIR SHORES — At the St. Clair Shores City Council meeting on Nov. 20, newly elected council members and reelected incumbents took their oaths of office.

Councilman Ron Frederick, Councilman Chris Vitale, Councilwoman Linda Bertges and Mayor Kip Walby took their oaths, with family members in attendance. Judge Mark Fratarcangeli, of the 40th District Court, and City Clerk Abby Barrett swore them in.

Councilwoman Candice Rusie was also approved to be the new mayor pro tem in a 7-0 council vote.

Bertges thanked everyone who voted for her.

“Also to my family who stood by me and helped me through all of this,” Bertges said.

Walby thanked the residents and especially wanted to thank his wife of 33 years.

“It has been the most rewarding part of my professional career to be the mayor of the city of St. Clair Shores,” Walby said. “A town that I grew up in, that I love. So it has been just tremendous.”
