EASTPOINTE — Recently recognized for its sustained success in raising student achievement, Bellview Elementary School, 15800 Bell Ave. in Eastpointe, continues to soar with accomplishments.

The recognition came from Solution Tree, an educational publishing company and home of Professional Learning Communities at Work.

In a press release, Professional Learning Communities are described as “schools and districts in which educators recognize the key to improved learning for students is ongoing, job-embedded learning for the adults who serve those students.”

Bellview is one of four schools in Michigan to receive the honor, the press release states.

According to Erin Stephenson, marketing specialist of Solution Tree, Bellview was accepted after applying to AllThingsPLC and meeting the criteria.

Professional Learning Communities call for educators to focus on three ideas:

• Focus on learning.

• Build a collaborative culture.

• Create a results orientation.

Criteria for selection included providing evidence of a commitment to learning for all students, evidence of a collaborative culture, and evidence of a focus on results, according to AllThingsPLC’s website.

In an email to the Eastsider July 3, Bellview Elementary Principal Anthony Sedick stated this was a “tremendous accomplishment” for the dedicated and resilient Bellview Elementary staff.

“Earning a distinction such as this showcases the commitment, grit and determination of our instructional team. I couldn’t be more proud of the Bellview Elementary School staff for putting in the effort and hard work needed to become a PLC Model School! While this recognition is certainly a point of pride for Bellview Elementary School, this type of amazing collaborative effort can be found in every Eastpointe Community School and reflects the growth and progress of the entire school district as a whole, as much as it is of our staff here at Bellview,” stated Sedick.
