Eastpointe Fire Department battles house fire

EASTPOINTE — The Eastpointe Fire Department responded to a house fire July 30 on Shakespeare Avenue, near Norton Avenue, which is in the area of Nine Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue.

At 6:30 p.m., firefighters arrived on the scene of the house fire. The department said that the house was occupied by a single person who suffered minor injuries from the blaze before being transported to a local hospital.

“(The) cause and origin are undetermined at this time,” the Eastpointe Department of Public Safety posted on Facebook regarding the fire. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the homeowner. Today is a good day to change the batteries in your smoke detectors. Smoke detectors save lives. No firefighters were injured battling the fire. Thank you Roseville (Fire Department) for assisting!”
