MACOMB TOWNSHIP — An increased workload of new projects underway in Macomb Township, and the upcoming census, were a couple of reasons cited for the appointment of a deputy supervisor to assist in day-to-day operations.

The appointment of Francesca Biondo as Macomb Township deputy supervisor was announced at the Sept. 25 Board of Trustees meeting.

“We have so many projects going on and I’m constantly in meetings,” Supervisor Janet Dunn said. “We’re shorthanded people here. Other than a consultant, we have no planner.”

Projects Dunn cited include the new library that’s going to be built on Broughton Road; a new public safety building at the corner of 23 Mile Road and Alma Drive, east of Romeo Plank Road; and recently acquired property on Romeo Plank, formerly Wade Nursery.

Dunn said responsibilities of a deputy supervisor include answering phone calls and reviewing information packets for board meetings.

Prior to accepting the job, Biondo, of Macomb Township, said she was an office manager for 17 years and also worked as a legal secretary.

“For the last year and a half, I was looking at different open positions and have been interested in getting more involved in my local township,” Biondo said. “I grew up here and love our township.”

Biondo’s first day on the job was Sept. 30. Before her appointment, the position was vacant for about a year.
