CLINTON TOWNSHIP — At press time, the Clinton Township Police Department was investigating an April 12 fatal car crash.

Clinton Township Police Sgt. Chris Allis said the crash, which involved three vehicles, occurred at about midnight in the area of Harper Avenue and Trombley Street. Five people were involved, resulting in one death, two critical injuries and two individuals who walked away mostly unscathed.

Preliminary investigation indicated that a gray 2014 Chrysler 300 was driving northbound on Harper, near Winners Bar & Grill. Simultaneously, a black 2006 Chrysler 300 was turning left into the bar’s parking lot. The 2014 Chrysler 300 then reportedly struck the 2006 Chrysler 300 from behind, causing its plastic bumper to fall off.

Meanwhile, a black 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer was reportedly attempting to turn left off Trombley — located one street north of Winners — to head southbound on Harper. The 2014 Chrysler 300, after hitting the first vehicle, then reportedly struck the Trailblazer.

The 2014 Chrysler 300 and the Trailblazer came to a rest near the Harper exit from Interstate 94.

The driver of the 2014 Chrysler 300 was identified as Michael Joseph Prosser, 22, of Clinton Township, who died as a result of the crash. His vehicle had two other passengers inside.

The passenger in the rear seat suffered critical injuries, resulting in his left arm being amputated,  as well as having a broken femur and what is believed to be a broken tibia/fibula.

The other passenger, who was sitting in the front seat, did not suffer any major injuries.

The female driver of the Trailblazer was taken to the hospital following the crash. Allis said she suffered a broken pelvis and injuries to her back.

“They’ll have long roads to recovery, but they should live,” Allis said.

The driver of the 2006 Chrysler 300 also reportedly did not suffer any major injuries.

Harper is a five-lane road with a speed limit of 45 mph. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.

Any witnesses with information about the crash are asked to contact the Clinton Township Police Department at (586) 493-7931.
