Defending Division 1 state champion Clinton Township Chippewa Valley is set to take on Saline High at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at Wayne State University.

Last season, Chippewa finished 14-0, with the Hornets going 11-2 and making it all the way to a D-1 semifinal.

In what was the first game played between the programs, Chippewa beat Saline 31-26 in a season opener last year.

Following that loss, the Hornets went on an 11-game winning streak before having their season end with a semifinal loss against Clarkston High.

Both Chippewa and Saline have qualified for the playoffs in each of the last seven years.

Last season, the Big Reds scored more than 40 points in eight games and held opponents to 10 or under six times.

Saline held its opponents to under 10 points in nine games last season.
