CENTER LINE — Public safety officers dispatched to investigate a report about a larceny from auto in progress apprehended a suspect who is now facing a list of charges amid an ongoing investigation.

The full details about the arrest were withheld due to the continued probe, but Executive Lt. Steve Hilla of the Center Line Public Safety Department confirmed a suspect was arrested after officers responded to a location on Helen Street shortly before 7 a.m. on Dec. 30.

“A brief description of the suspect was given. The suspect matching that description was seen by responding officers and there was a foot pursuit,” Hilla said. “They located the suspect and he was transported to the Macomb County Jail.

“He was found hiding by a dumpster,” Hilla said.

The man currently faces four charges related to the investigation.

Hilla said Center Line patrol officers reported other incidents involving alleged larcenies from vehicles earlier in December. He said the most recent arrest was made after a resident called 911.

“If any citizens see anything suspicious in the area, please contact the Center Line police department immediately,” Hilla said

He said 911 is always an option if an officer is needed to investigate a possible crime in progress. Center Line’s nonemergency number for the Public Safety Department is (586) 757-2200.
