Auto larceny suspects flee police in Macomb County

Pursuit ends after crash in Detroit; one juvenile caught, two suspects at-large

HARRISON TOWNSHIP/ST. CLAIR SHORES — A report of a larceny in progress escalated to a vehicle pursuit.

A Macomb County Sheriff’s Office press release indicates that at approximately 4 a.m. Sept. 25, deputies responded to the Village Green Apartments, near Jefferson Avenue and Shook Road, for a larceny from auto in progress.

“It was reported that three black males had broken into a vehicle and were placing property from that vehicle into a black Honda Pilot,” the release states.

Upon arrival, deputies observed the suspect vehicle, a black Honda Pilot, leaving the area. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle.However, the vehicle fled and a pursuit began.

The Honda was discovered to be stolen out of another jurisdiction. The vehicle fled westbound on Interstate 94 into St. Clair Shores.

St. Clair Shores police put out stop sticks, but the suspect drove around them.

The suspect vehicle continued on westbound I-94 until it crashed at Conner Road in Detroit.

Three black males reportedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot. With the assistance of a Roseville Police Department K-9 unit and Detroit police, one of the suspects was taken into custody. A juvenile, this suspect was lodged at the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center.

Law enforcement officers and the captured suspect were uninjured during the incident.

At press time, the Sheriff’s Office continued to investigate the incident and stated that it was not releasing video at the time.
