HARRISON TOWNSHIP — At press time, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office was searching for a suspect who robbed an ATM service technician at gunpoint Jan. 2.

According to Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Renee Yax, deputies were called to the Comerica Bank at Jefferson Avenue and Shook Road in Harrison Township at 10:45 a.m.

At the scene, deputies learned from an ATM service technician that he was working on the ATM outside the bank when he was approached by an armed man wearing a mask. The suspect, described as a black man, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build, demanded the money within the ATM, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

The technician turned over the money to the suspect, who then fled north on Jefferson Avenue in a white four-door sedan. The report states that the suspect appeared to be alone.

The technician entered the bank and notified staff, who contacted police. There were no injuries, Yax stated in the report.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office detective bureau at (586) 307-9358.
