TROY — Does live music in an outdoor venue sound good?

Bring your lawn chair or blanket and head to Boulan Park to grab a bite to eat and hear music tuned to a wide range of tastes at the Troy Summer Sensation concert series.

Lynn Drake grew up in Troy and describes herself as a regular attendee of the Troy concert series.

“My husband (Pat Balice) and I are music lovers,” she said. “We’re always looking for concerts. Troy offers fabulous musicians for us to see — some famous, some not so famous. The music is always top notch.”

She added that it’s a great place to catch up with friends. “Boulan Park is a great venue,” she said.

“We are so excited to bring back the Troy summer concert series and July Movies at Dusk at Boulan Park again this summer,” said Troy Community Affairs Director Cindy Stewart. “There will be a food truck at every concert.”

Here is the lineup:

• July 11, The BackBeats, followed by the movie “Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse.”  The BackBeats perform with various Beatle tribute shows around the world and have opened for the Beach Boys, the Zombies, Leon Russell, America, Jefferson Starship and Vanilla Fudge.

• July 25, Mainstream Drive, followed by the movie “Incredibles 2.” Mainstream Drive is a high-energy dance cover band that performs popular songs from many genres of music, including Top 40 hits through Motown favorites.

• Aug. 8, Brushes with Broadway, with Tom Butwin and musical guests. Butwin, an Athens High School graduate, is a four-time Detroit Music Award nominee and recently starred as Jesus in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical, “Jesus Christ Superstar.” He was also featured on PBS “Detroit Performs Live.”

• Aug. 22, Thornetta Davis will perform blues, soul and R&B. Davis won eight 2017 Detroit Music Awards and the French 2018 La Academie du Jazz Award for Best Blues Album. She was also recognized by the Detroit Blues Society with the Living Lifetime Achievement Award and was awarded a star on the Canada South Blues Museum Walk of Fame.

The concerts take place at Boulan Park, 3693 Crooks Road, between Big Beaver and Wattles roads, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Bring chairs or blankets to sit on. Picnic tables are available. Food will be available for purchase starting at 5:30 p.m.

Beaumont Health System sponsors the series.
