ST. CLAIR SHORES — St. Clair Shores police are investigating the death of a 90-year-old resident of Bayview Street after he was found deceased in the water near a dock east of his residence.

St. Clair Shores police, the Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to the 22000 block of Bayview Street at 12:56 p.m. May 20 after the man’s family was unable to locate their father.

The last time the man had been seen, Detective Sgt. James Brueckman said, he was sitting behind his residence near the water when family members left after dinner at around 6:30 p.m. May 19. The family spoke to their father every day, and they called police when they couldn’t locate him May 20.

Police said the man appears to have drowned and there are no signs of any foul play. The matter is being investigated by the Macomb County Medical Examiner’s Office and the St. Clair Shores Police Department’s detective bureau.

At press time, preliminary results from the autopsy confirmed that drowning was the cause of death, according to St. Clair Shores police.
