EASTPOINTE — Despite the threat of rain, Eastpointe’s 2019 Cruisin’ Gratiot filled Gratiot Avenue with classic cars, fun attractions and thousands of attendees.

The cruise began June 10 with local businesses hosting car shows throughout the week. It culminated June 15 with the cruise parade, in which city officials and local organizations took to a special cruise lane cordoned off on Gratiot, joining hundreds of classic cars zooming through the community.

Mike Rubino helps the Oddfellows set up a car display and cookout at the Oddfellows Hall along Gratiot each year. He said that the Cruise has been a great one.

“We’ve been hoping the rain holds off,” said Rubino. “It’s been a little slow this year — I think because of the weather — but people turned out and we have people lined up outside. … I’ve seen a lot of great cars this year. It’s always such a fun local event.”
