NORTHVILLE — It’s not every day people can find a winter carnival hosted by a dentist’s office, yet for the 19th year, Preservation Dental in Northville has been offering exactly that around the holidays.

The Winter CARnival will take place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25 at Mill Race Historical Village, located at 215 Griswold St.

The event, located among the historical village’s restored and replica 19th-century buildings, will feature a variety of holiday displays, lights, music, entertainment, and food including a collection of 1970s vintage VW Beetles decorated as Rudolph and his eight tiny reindeer. The cars will be adorned with whimsical antlers, lit up with professional stage lighting synchronized with music.

Other attractions include storytelling in both English and Spanish, carolers, Turkey Trot Dancers fresh from their performance this year during the 97th America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in Detroit, the Elf on the Shelf, Santa and Mrs. Claus and their elves. A silent auction also will be held for holiday gift baskets from Mayberry Farms.

Organizers Dr. William Demray will even bring his 20 foot tall “Tree of Teeth” Christmas tree – consisting of 1,111 8-inch white plastic molars, lit with twinkling lights and adorned with a 3.5-foot-tall Barbie Doll Tooth Fairy.

In lieu of charging an admission fee, the organizers are asking attendees to bring in a new, unwrapped toy to support the Corriveau Law office’s annual Toys for Tots drive with the national Marine Corps, although they request no stuffed animals.

Free food including hot dogs, hot chocolate, cookies and more will be available.

“Starting in the summer, our patients and the public stop in to ask what we are planning for this year and egg us on to make it even bigger and more special,” Demray said in a press release. “As they say, ‘it takes a village,’ and this year the community really stepped up with us to create a magical and unique holiday event for Detroit area families.”
