SHELBY TOWNSHIP —The Shelby Township Police Department will once again be hosting its annual Police Department open house event next month.

The annual Open House is going to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Shelby Township Police Department, 52530 Van Dyke Ave.

The department will have its K-9 unit and its drone unit doing demonstrations, plus an evidence technician unit, a crisis negotiator unit and the Tactical Response Unit on-site to meet residents and business owners. The Police Department also will have bounce houses for kids, and free hot dogs and snacks.

Visitors will be able to see police vehicles and equipment up close.

Sgt. Mark Benedettini, of the Shelby Township Police Department, said that each year the department holds the open house, more residents come out to see what the police are all about.

“Our Officers look forward to the Open House so we can interact with residents and business owners of Shelby Township and give them an inside look at the Shelby Township Police Department and what we do on a daily basis.  Last year, we had great weather and a record turnout, and we hope for the same this year,” said Benedettini.
