ROSEVILLE — Masonic Boulevard remains closed at Gratiot Avenue as a result of ongoing construction.

The Masonic part of the intersection closed June 16 and is expected to reopen June 29. While it remains closed, traffic will be unable to turn onto Masonic Boulevard.

Traffic on eastbound Masonic Boulevard is being routed onto southbound Groesbeck Highway to southbound Utica Road, where it will then turn eastbound on 13 Mile Road and continue to northbound Little Mack Avenue before returning to Masonic Boulevard.

Westbound traffic is being routed southbound on Little Mack Avenue to westbound 13 Mile Road, then north on Utica Road to northbound Groesbeck Highway before returning to Masonic Boulevard.

Diane Cross, a media representative for the Michigan Department of Transportation’s metro region, said traffic on Gratiot Avenue is unaffected.

The work is part of the second year of a two-year project aimed at rebuilding 3 miles of Gratiot Avenue between 11 Mile and 14 Mile roads in Roseville. The project in full is expected to be completed in late fall.

Marianne Meyers — the general manager of Macomb Mall, located at the intersection — said customers have been able to maneuver the construction barrels. They also have been able to use the mall’s other driveways on Beaconsfield Street and Masonic Boulevard.

“We have been in close contact with MDOT about the work in front of the mall, and that communication is passed on to our tenants prior to the work starting,” Meyers said via email.

They have not seen a reduction in foot traffic in the mall during construction, she said.
