1. Troy ‘Prehistoric’ Village Trick-or-Treat
Oct. 21-22 • Troy Historic Village
It's an event 65 million years in the making! Come in costume and enjoy dinosaur-themed decorations, games, crafts and activities while exploring the Troy Historic Village, 60 W. Wattles Road, from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. Tickets cost $7 in advance for Troy Historical Society members and $8 at the door; nonmembers add $2. Frightful 5K
Another dress-up event in Troy, the Frightful 5K will start at 8:30 a.m. (7:30 a.m. check-in) at the Troy Community Center, 3179 Livernois Road, and travel onto Big Beaver Road and through Civic Center Campus. Or, sign up for the Family Pumpkin 1K at 9:30 a.m., which begins on the track next to the Community Center. Participants can stay for open swim afterward. 2. Macomb County HarvestFest
Oct. 22-23 • Freedom Hill County Park, Sterling Heights
The Macomb County HarvestFest will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Freedom Hill County Park, 14900 Metro Parkway in Sterling Heights. Trick-or-treating stations will be open from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 4:30 p.m. Families are encouraged to dress in costume. Other activities will include hayrides, inflatables, movies, music, magic, princesses, a children's tattoo artist, a pumpkin patch, professional pumpkin carvers and games. Food trucks will be on site. Tickets cost $9 per person ($12 at the gate); children 3 and younger, as well as active and retired service members with military identification, can attend for free. 3. Pumpkin Walk
Oct. 22 • Civic Center Park, Madison Heights
The Madison Heights Arts Board will host its Pumpkin Walk from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Trick or treat along park trails while taking in the atmosphere of a fall night with décor and music to match. Entry is from the parking lot of Fire Station No. 1, located by the courthouse behind City Hall in the Civic Center Plaza at 300 W. 13 Mile Road. 4. 'Music, Magic & Mayhem — Halloween Delights'
Oct. 21 • Macomb Center for the Performing Arts, Clinton Township
The Macomb Symphony Orchestra will perform "Music, Magic & Mayhem — Halloween Delights" at 8 p.m. Friday at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts, on the center campus of Macomb Community College, 44575 Garfield Road in Clinton Township. The audience is encouraged to wear costumes. The cost for the 1-hour show is $24 for general admission, $20 for seniors and $12 for students. 5. ‘The Hero and the Hag’ / 'Clue'
Oct. 21-23 • Southfield / Farmington Hills
One is a "mystical, comical journey" during a backyard Halloween party. The other is a "hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery" at a mansion. Both are perfect for this time of the season and will be performed this weekend.
The Rosedale Community Players will stage "The Hero and the Hag" at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Peace Lutheran Church, 17029 W. 13 Mile Road in Southfield. For tickets and more information, email rcptickets@gmail.com, visit rosedalecommunityplayers.com or call (313) 532-4010.
Based on the 1985 movie that was inspired by a popular board game, "Clue" will be acted out live at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Mercy High School, 29300 W. 11 Mile Road in Farmington Hills. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at showtix4u.com/event-details/66706.
