SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Four Shelby Township Fine Art Society artists’ paintings were voted community favorites at the Shelby Township Art Fair Aug. 13-14.
The Shelby Township Fine Art Society had a tent with its artists’ work at the Shelby Art Fair. The society asked visitors to vote for their favorite paintings. Several people had expressed to the society a hope to find out the results.
There were 1,769 votes by the public over the two days. Winners were announced Aug. 16, and cash awards were given to the artists. There were 26 artists who showed their work for a total of 79 pieces. Sixteen pieces were sold at the art fair, including five prints.
First place went to “Reflection,” by Marilyn Davidson, which features a pagoda over water and buildings in the background.
In second place was “Northern MI Aurora Borealis,” by Karen Ann, which included a pairing of a snowy roadway and the sky.
Coming in third was “Enchantment,” by Sara Katsavrias, which shows parrots amid brightly colored flora.
Earning the honorable mention was “Port Hole,” by Bea Allebone, which is a circular painting showing sea life under the water’s surface.
