TROY — A nonprofit is celebrating more than a half-century of helping kids play ball.

SOUTHFIELD — Wrapped in Love, a program started by the National Council of Jewish Women, Michigan, has reached its 20th year of supplying local children in need with warm fleece blankets.

SOUTHFIELD — Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Sigma Delta Lambda Chapter, in partnership with Meijer, will host the annual How the Alphas Gave Christmas holiday initiative Dec. 20, providing Southfield families with Meijer gift cards.

TROY — The Troy Community Foundation recently awarded grants totaling $11,650 to a dozen organizations as part of its Fall 2025 grant cycle.

BIRMINGHAM — The Franciscan Outreach Program and Birmingham Village Players are collaborating for the first time this winter for a benefit that helps feed the hungry.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Shelby Township is celebrating the 11th anniversary of its annual Giving Tree program, an initiative to spread holiday joy to those in need.

FRASER — The Fraser First Booster Club is hosting its Blue Jean Ball in February with raffles, dinner and more. 

UTICA — The Utica Fire Department will once again be holding its Toys for Tots Stuff an Ambulance event at Utica Memorial Park during the Downtown Utica Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration on Dec. 13.

SOUTHFIELD — Fans of live productions can support their local theater and reminisce about times gone by with a special fundraiser this weekend.

METRO DETROIT — The holiday season is upon us, and families all over are preparing for the next few months of fun, food and gifts. But some families are wondering how they are going to pull it off for their children.

TROY — Shawn Rankin, a senior at Troy High School, has brought in donations and built doghouses for the Oakland County Animal Control and Pet Adoption Center — part of his efforts to achieve the status of Eagle Scout, the highest rank for Scouting America groups. 

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — With the cost of food going up and inflation on people’s minds, students at one Chippewa Valley school will soon be able to get food they need regardless of the economic situation at home.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Each year, the Madison Heights Goodfellows work with area businesses to sponsor families in need, ensuring gifts are under the tree come Christmas morning.
