ROCHESTER HILLS — A Troy woman has died from injuries following a car crash in Rochester Hills Aug. 30.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, Mary Josephine Howe, 85, was driving a Chevrolet Impala northbound on Adams Road, attempting to turn onto westbound Auburn Road at approximately 6:16 p.m.

As she began to turn left into the intersection, her car was struck by a 31-year-old Lake Orion woman driving a Jeep. As a result of the initial crash, the Jeep also struck a Chevrolet Cruze, driven by a 28-year-old woman from Pontiac, that was stopped at the traffic light on eastbound Auburn Road.

The Rochester Hills Fire Department transported Howe to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The driver of the Jeep was hospitalized with minor injuries, and the third driver declined medical treatment at the scene.

All drivers were wearing seat belts, and deputies said alcohol did not appear to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigations Unit.
