METRO DETROIT — The Detroit Institute of Arts announced the Oakland County communities that are participating in the museum’s 2025 Inside|Out program.

ROYAL OAK — The Royal Oak High School Drama Club will be showcasing its talents in the show “Our Town,” a play by Thornton Wilder.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — The Shelby Township Fine Art Society will be hosting its art exhibit and sale in May at the Municipal Building, 52700 Van Dyke Ave., for all to come out and see their masterpieces.

CLAWSON — Ian Konkolesky is the real life “Young Sheldon.” The 12-year-old is so precocious at math that he is currently taking his second calculus class at Oakland Community College.

BIRMINGHAM — Residents from Bloomfield Hills, West Bloomfield, Royal Oak, Birmingham, Ferndale, Madison Heights, Berkley and Lathrup Village have come together for the Birmingham Village Players’ production of “The Music Man.”

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — Elana McEwen, a Bloomfield Hills High School graduate, is celebrating her graduation from Michigan State University and the beginning of her career in Atlanta.

ROYAL OAK — The annual and internationally recognized glass art show is back for the 53rd year at Habatat Galleries, 4400 Fernlee Ave. in Royal Oak.

METRO DETROIT — Not all gardens need to be grown in the ground. According to Lindsey Kerr, the Wayne County consumer horticulture educator for Michigan State University Extension, container gardening is a great option for those who want to enjoy gardening without the need to dig holes in their backyards or for aspiring gardeners who do not have backyards at all.

UTICA — The Utica Puppy Parade will return to the downtown area with all sorts of activities and animal support groups brought together for a cause.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Shelby Township resident Dylan Pillivant was recently named the 2025 recipient of Oakland University’s Alfred G. Wilson Award.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — Excitement is building as preparations continue for the St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — Follow your passion was the theme of the keynote address given by host Jeff Cauley at a “Business Innovation Generator” event March 27.

WALLED LAKE — The Inspired Acting Company in Walled Lake is currently in its second season, and will premiere the Tony Award-winning Amy Herzog adaptation of playwright Henrik Ibsen’s classic “A Doll’s House,” on April 25.

ROCHESTER HILLS — The community is invited to learn about different foods, music, and traditions from all over the globe at the city’s fifth annual Cultural Fair.

NOVI — The Mod Market’s fifth annual Autism Acceptance Art Show is now on display at Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea in Novi.

TROY — The annual “Spring Egg Hunt” at Troy Historic Village  brings out families for a wide variety of spring-themed activities.

ROYAL OAK — Stagecrafters has begun to sell tickets for the popular musical “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” which is slated to be on the main stage at The Baldwin Theatre, 415 S. Lafayette Ave., May 30-June 22.

BERKLEY — Prom season is about to hit Berkley High School in more ways than one. Berkley High School’s Be Drama club will host its production of “The Prom” at the end of this month, April 24-27, in the high school auditorium, 2325 Catalpa Drive.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP —The Shelby Farmers Market soon will be back for another season, welcoming visitors from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday from May 17 to Oct. 18 at the historic Packard Proving Grounds in Shelby Township.

GROSSE POINTE CITY — Outdoor concerts will be coming to a different kind of stage later this year in Grosse Pointe City.
