MOUNT CLEMENS — Set to kick off its fourth annual festival, 2024 Macomb County Pride will be unlike anything that came before it.

FERNDALE — Fans of the colorfully clad Helen Roper from the television sitcom “Three’s Company” paused for a photo at the Ferndale Elks Lodge #1588 on June 8 during a Mrs. Roper Romp Pub Crawl in downtown Ferndale. 

ROSEVILLE — RoseFest is on track to take place June 15 at Veterans Memorial Park in Roseville.

ROYAL OAK — For the fourth year in a row, Royal Oak will be holding a Juneteenth celebration at Centennial Commons from 3 to 8 p.m. June 19.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — This year, St. Clair Shores is hosting the Detroit Institute of Art program Inside|Out, as well as a selfie contest for residents to enjoy.

SOUTHFIELD — “I’m still walking around in a daze. My wife and I  … it’s unbelievable — nothing like this has ever happened,” Michael Johnson, a U.S. Air Force veteran and Southfield resident of 30 years, said of his new roof.

SOUTHFIELD — For its third year, Southfield will continue to educate and inspire with its Juneteenth lineup with a week of activities and events starting with the 5 p.m. June 10 Juneteenth Flag Raising and Council Presentation in front of City Hall, 26000 Evergreen Road.

TROY — Hundreds of people gathered at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy for the 93rd annual WWI Polar Bear Memorial Service May 27 to honor a group of Michigan soldiers known as the “Polar Bears,” according to a press release from the cemetery.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — The St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation Department will host a “Fireworks Extravaganza!” on June 28 at Veterans Memorial Park, 32400 Jefferson Ave. The rainout date will be June 29.

ROYAL OAK — Judson Center celebrated 100 years as a nonprofit organization in May through an interactive art exhibit.

GROSSE POINTE FARMS — On June 6, the War Memorial, 32 Lake Shore Road in Grosse Pointe Farms, will mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day — which turned the tide in World War II as the Allies stormed Normandy beaches in France to wrest back control of the country from Nazi Germany

ROYAL OAK — Thursday, June 6, marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day, and to commemorate this day, the Michigan World War II Legacy Memorial board of directors will be hosting an event.

ROSEVILLE — There is a section at Erin Grove Cemetery where about 100 infants were buried in the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s.

NOVI — June 6, 2024, marks the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.

EASTPOINTE — Eastpointe Cruisin’ Gratiot 2024 is set for June 15, but the festivities will kick off a few days earlier with car shows at local spots.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — Three women, including one who was raised in West Bloomfield, recently moved into the 58th home that was renovated as part of Grace Centers of Hope’s program.

SOUTHFIELD — After a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mid-Century Modern Architecture Tour is making its return to Southfield at 2 p.m. June 9, taking off from Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, 27375 Bell Road, with free parking on-site. The tour is possible thanks to the Southfield Historical Society, the Detroit Area Art Deco Society and the Friends of Southfield Public Arts.

GROSSE POINTE PARK — A couple that has devoted their lives to serving others is now in need of a helping hand from the community.
