After an upset win over the top-ranked team in the state in Troy Athens at the district finals, Utica did not let up in its regional semifinal against Macomb Dakota.
Matt Wilkie netted the only goal in the contest with 36 minutes left to give the Chieftains a 1-0 victory. Joe Zaremski assisted the goal.
Peter Gjini made six saves to record the shutout for Utica (17-5-3).
"We didn't play our best, but we persevered and scored. I'm proud of them because we won the game and at this point that's all that matters," Utica coach Carl Territo said.
Utica will move onto to play Bloomfield Hills at Grosse Pointe North in a regional final on Friday at 5:00 p.m. Macomb Dakota finished the year with a record of 17-2-2.
