The Warren Regina golf team finished third at a 2013 Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 regional tournament and qualified for the 2013 MHSAA D-3 finals.
The Saddlelites shot a 383 at the regional, which took place Oct. 9 at the Fieldstone Golf Club in Pontiac. Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day tallied a 347 to win the regional. Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood shot a 348 to place second.
The D-3 state finals took place after press time at Grand Valley State University. See future editions for more information on the Regina golf team.
The top three teams and individuals at each regional qualified for the state finals.
The trip to the D-3 finals is the first for Regina since 2010.
Saddlelites sophomore Kendall Graves led Regina at the regional with an 82. Junior Sydney Russu shot a 91 for the Saddlelites. Juniors Lauren Vance and Mia Minoletti, and sophomore Lucy Cornell, shot 104, 106 and 113, respectively, for Regina at the regional.

Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day
Thanks to two early scores, some lock-down defense, and a touchdown with just 5:25 remaining in regulation, the Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day football team picked up a 20-13 victory against Milan High in a Division 4 regional final on Nov. 14 and earned this week’s Team of the Week honor. Country Day, which had outscored its opponents 78-7 in the district round, advanced to the state semifinals for the second year in a row. The Yellowjackets (11-1) face Flint Powers Catholic (10-2) at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 at West Bloomfield High.
