The Warren Mott football team, which sat at 8-0, 5-0 Macomb Area Conference White Division at press time, is one of four local football teams that should qualify for the 2013 Michigan High School Athletic Association state playoffs. The Marauders, champions of the MAC White, locked up a berth with their sixth win.
Warren Woods Tower (6-2, 4-1 MAC Silver) is also a lock for the state playoffs and will be a part of the postseason for the first time since 2007.
Warren Michigan Collegiate (5-3, 4-2 Charter School League) and Warren De La Salle (5-3, 2-2 Catholic High School League Central Division) needed one more win to seal a playoff berth but could still qualify even with a loss in their final regular-season game if they meet a points criteria set by the MHSAA.
According to the MHSAA, for football, postseason inclusion is determined by wins and a computer point value, calculated for each team based upon its record and strength of schedule, with the top 256 teams (including all teams with six victories if playing a nine-game schedule) qualifying. These 256 teams are then ordered by enrollment and divided into eight divisions of 32 teams each.
The regular season ended Oct. 25.
