Macomb County swim, dive championships to be decided Oct. 5

Swim teams to converge on L'Anse Creuse North

Swimmers from teams representing schools all over Macomb County, including Sterling Heights High, will take part in the 2013 Macomb County Swim and Dive Championships Oct. 5. MACOMB TOWNSHIP — Swimmers and divers representing girls teams from more than 30 Macomb County high school will all hit the water for the 2013 Macomb County Swim and Dive finals, set for 10 a.m. Oct. 5 at Macomb L'Anse Creuse North.

The diving preliminaries took place Oct. 4 at LCN. Finals for swimming and diving will take place Oct. 6.

Every team at the championships will be looking to knock off Clinton Township Chippewa Valley. The Big Reds have won the last three county championships. Chippewa Valley, members of the Macomb Area Conference Red Division, has a record of 5-1, 2-1 MAC Red going into the county meet.

Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day

Thanks to two early scores, some lock-down defense, and a touchdown with just 5:25 remaining in regulation, the Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day football team picked up a 20-13 victory against Milan High in a Division 4 regional final on Nov. 14 and earned this week’s Team of the Week honor. Country Day, which had outscored its opponents 78-7 in the district round, advanced to the state semifinals for the second year in a row. The Yellowjackets (11-1) face Flint Powers Catholic (10-2) at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 at West Bloomfield High.
