Lutheran North boys soccer wins regional title

The Macomb Lutheran North boys soccer team was still alive in the 2013 Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 state playoffs after the Mustangs knocked off Clawson 2-1 in overtime Oct. 25 to win a regional championship.
The regional final took place at Farmington High.
To advance to the regional final, the Mustangs (13-4-2) bested Grosse Ile 1-0 in a regional semifinal that took place Oct. 23 at Farmington High.
Lutheran North (13-4-2) battled Flint Powers Catholic in a D-3 state semifinal after press time. The winner of that match gets the winner of a White Hall/Grand Rapids South Final in a D-3 state title match set for Nov. 2 at either Troy High or East Kentwood.

Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day
Thanks to two early scores, some lock-down defense, and a touchdown with just 5:25 remaining in regulation, the Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day football team picked up a 20-13 victory against Milan High in a Division 4 regional final on Nov. 14 and earned this week’s Team of the Week honor. Country Day, which had outscored its opponents 78-7 in the district round, advanced to the state semifinals for the second year in a row. The Yellowjackets (11-1) face Flint Powers Catholic (10-2) at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 at West Bloomfield High.
