RAY TOWNSHIP — The Anchor Bay boys golf team won the 30th annual Evans-Gill Memorial Golf Tournament by besting two-time defending champion Utica Eisenhower by six strokes. The tournament was played at Pine Valley in Ray Township April 22.
Anchor Bay notched a 326, while Eisenhower tallied a 332. Eisenhower won the tournament in 2012 and 2013.

The tournament takes place each year to honor two former high school golf coaches — Chuck Evans, of Mount Clemens High, and Roger Gill, of Macomb L’Anse Creuse North. Seventeen Macomb County prep teams played in the tourney. Outside of the top five teams, the field also includes Clinton Township Chippewa Valley, East Detroit High, St. Clair Shores Lakeview, Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse, Macomb L’Anse Creuse North, Macomb Lutheran North, Port Huron Northern, Richmond, Sterling Heights Stevenson, Utica High, Warren Mott and Warren Woods Tower.
Eisenhower’s Conner Jones tallied a 76 to record the low round for the second straight year.
The 2014 Macomb County Invitational took place after press time.
