Local soccer teams bow out of district tournament

Troy Athens soccer wrapped up the season with a 3-2 overtime loss to Utica High in a Division 1 district final Oct. 19.
The Red Hawks defeated Sterling Heights High 2-1 in the semifinals and finished the season 20-1-0.
The loss marked the end of a remarkable season for the Red Hawks, who finished the regular season unbeaten at 19-0 and captured the OAA Red title.
Troy High was ousted in the district opener, a 1-0 loss to Sterling Heights.
In D-2 district final action, Auburn Hills Avondale fell to Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood 2-1 in overtime.
