October 17, 2012Fraser, De La Salle soccer set to clash in semi

Coach Thaier Mukhtar leads his new team, Fraser High, against his old team, Warren De La Salle in what should be a tightly contested Division 1 district semifinal soccer game at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Chippewa Valley.
Mukhtar took over Fraser this season and promptly led it to the Macomb Area Conference White Division title and a 14-2-3 record overall. Reid Friedrichs now leads the Pilots, who are 10-1-10 entering the semi.
Both squads recorded 5-0 victories in their playoff openers and now will look to best one another to advance to the 5 p.m. Friday final at Chippewa against either Utica Stevenson (12-4-2) or Utica Ford II (8-6-5). The Titans and Falcons, a pair of MAC Red rivals, play in the second semifinal Wednesday.
