As a whole, it’s considered one of the best and deepest leagues in the entire state, with playoff success and state championship trophies serving as evidence.

But for the entire league to be held to that standard, it’s the individual pieces that must thrive.

And so it went for the Catholic High School League in 2017, another excellent football season constructed by another group of excellent players.

Prior to the Prep Bowl festivities in Week 9, coaches throughout the league selected the best of the best.

Here’s a quick look at the chosen few.

All-Catholic honors went to the top players this year, equivalent to first-team All-Conference, for example.

Those who earned All-Catholic include:

• Rashawn Allen and Nick Goerss, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s.

• Jacob Badalamenti, Michael McGinnity, Devin Campbell, Brendan Madigan, Luke Pfromm, Josh DeBerry, Cordell Tannyhill and Jacob Dobbs, Warren De La Salle.

• Marqis Stokes, Trevor McConnell, Kobi Russell, Christopher Smith, Torrell Williams and Jack Fairman, Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood.

• Devin Slaughter, Eric Wigginton, Nevin Hughes and Christian Barrera, Riverview Gabriel Richard.

• Troy Webster, Dozzio Trapiss and Quincy Greenia, Marine City Cardinal Mooney.

• Carlos Vettorello, Walter Reynolds, Elijah Collins and Elijah Cate, University of Detroit Jesuit.

• Aidan Hutchinson, William Duren, Theo Day, Quinn Blair, Sean Pilon and Cameron Smith, Dearborn Divine Child.

• Ben Alderson, Cameron Cope, Franklin Lama and Kendel Taylor, Madison Heights Bishop Foley.

• Cameron Ryan, Lucas Hendershot, Joe Natoci, Andrew Paxton, Noah Hamid, Logan Heath and Isaac Darkangelo, Novi Detroit Catholic Central.
