Woman robbed at Payless ShoeSource

St. Clair Shores police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Aug. 3 at Payless ShoeSource on Harper Avenue.

According to a press release from the Police Department, an employee at the shoe store called to report a robbery at 1:14 p.m. Aug. 3. The employee told police that a woman approached the cash register and allegedly implied that she had a gun.

She then allegedly walked behind the counter, forced the employee to open the cash register and took an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect was described as a 30- to 40-year-old black woman who was heavyset and wearing a black tank top with pineapple graphics on it and blue jeans.

St. Clair Shores police said that they were continuing to investigate and had no other information as of Aug. 4.
