WARREN — Investigations remained ongoing at press time May 10 after three armed robberies were reported at Family Dollar stores in Warren over an 11-day span.

Detective Sgt. Robert Eidt, of the Warren Police Department, said the Family Dollar at 11815 Eight Mile Road, near Groesbeck Highway, was robbed twice: at 8:40 p.m. April 28 and again at 7:15 p.m. May 8. He said the store located at 20720 Van Dyke Ave., just north of Eight Mile, was robbed at 7:47 p.m. May 9.

The physical description and the actions of the suspect or suspects were reportedly similar in each of the three robberies. The suspect was described as a black man, between 5 feet 7 inches and 6 feet tall, with a medium build, and wearing all black clothing and either black shoes or tan boots. The description of the suspect’s facial hair ranged from a goatee to clean-shaven to only a moustache over each of the three incidents, respectively.

In each case, the suspect or suspects approached an employee at the cash register to make a purchase, pulled a gun when the drawer opened and grabbed money from the store’s cash drawers after ordering employees to open additional registers.

No injuries were reported during the robberies, but the suspect reportedly threatened to shoot an employee when she had trouble opening the register during the April 28 robbery.
