WARREN — Warren police are looking for information about two men and a tan sedan tied to an armed robbery at the Korner Store on Nine Mile Road at Marmon earlier this month.
According to Warren Police Detective Sgt. Stephen Mills, employees said two suspects described as black, 18-20 years old and wearing ski masks ran into the store just before 9 p.m. Jan. 14. One of the suspects, armed with a long-barreled handgun, reportedly jumped the counter and confronted two employees.
“The guy was working behind the counter. Suspect No. 1 pointed a gun at him and demanded money and cigarettes,” Mills said. “He says, ‘I’ll shoot you.’”
The suspects eventually both went over the counter and allegedly made off with about 40 packs of Newport cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash.
A witness told police he observed the two men run from the store carrying masks, a handgun and a bag. He said they ran east to a waiting vehicle, described as a tan or beige sedan with a loud exhaust. He said the car went through the alley and then east along Nine Mile and northeast through a gas station parking lot at Nine Mile and Hoover.
Police were reviewing video of the suspect vehicle captured on surveillance cameras in the area.
No shots were fired during the robbery, and no injuries were reported.
Anyone with information about the suspects or the robbery can reach Warren detectives at (586) 574-4810.
