EASTPOINTE — Warmer weather is here and Eastpointe’s Music in the Plaza is scheduled to kick off its concert series at 6:30 p.m. May 30.

Denise Davis and the Motor City Sensations will be performing in the plaza behind City Hall, 23200 Gratiot Ave.

This year’s other scheduled performers include:

• 2MD (formerly WTFD Radio) playing Top 40 and classic rock June 13.

• Kat Orlando Duo (featuring Larry Pinho on guitar) playing Top 40 and classic songs June 27.

• Bob and Carl performing Top 40 and classic songs July 11.

• Eastside Drive, which is new to the concert series, performing Top 40, rock and pop July 25.

• Jibs Brown playing acoustic guitar songs, Motown, blues and original music Aug. 8.

Denise Davis and the Motor City Sensations have a mixture of R&B, soul music, pop and funk, and they were featured at last year’s Music in the Plaza concert series.

Davis said the band is excited to be back this year and enjoyed performing last year.

“It was great and fantastic and the crowd seemed to enjoy what they saw and heard. Overall it was a great experience,” said Davis.

“We are so happy to be back in Eastpointe; we’ll have a Motown and pop classics showcase that’s interactive and full of excitement and love,” she added.

Eastpointe Mayor Suzanne Pixley said that Music in the Plaza is a great series that Eastpointe puts on for the community and is a family-friendly event.

“It’s entertaining and usually a nice, warm, summer night, and sometimes we have little kids that come out and dance,” said Pixley.

“I always enjoy the different performances that come. It’s something for everybody. Bring your own lawn chairs and come out and have some fun,” she added.

The Eastpointe-Roseville Chamber of Commerce is one of the many sponsors of the series.
