State girls basketball playoffs set to tip

METRO DETROIT — Girls basketball teams from all over the state have battled all regular season long hoping to be at their best at this time of year.

The state girls basketball playoffs begin with district play, running March 2-6; the regional round runs March 10 and March 12; the state quarterfinals will be contested on March 17; and the state semifinal and final games will be played March 19-21 at Michigan State University.

Division 1
At Bloomfield Hills Marian

Southfield A&T and Birmingham Groves meet in a district quarterfinal at 5:30 p.m. March 2, with the winner facing Royal Oak High in a semifinal at 5:30 p.m. March 4. The other side of the bracket sees Marian squaring off with Birmingham Seaholm in a quarterfinal at 7:15 p.m. March 4. The survivor gets Berkley High in a semifinal at 7:15 p.m. March 4.

The district final tips at 7 p.m. March 6.


At Grosse Pointe North
Eastpointe High and Grosse Pointe South match up in a quarterfinal at 6:30 p.m. March 2, with the survivor advancing to face Warren Woods Tower in a semi at 5:30 p.m. March 4. On the other side of the pod, Grosse Pointe North and Hamtramck High square off in a semifinal at 7 p.m. March 4.

The district final is set for 6:30 p.m. March 6.


At Farmington High
The host and Farmington Hills Mercy meet in a quarterfinal slated for 6 p.m. March 2. The winner gets Novi High in a semi at 5 p.m. March 4. On the other side of the pod, North Farmington and Livonia Stevenson battle at 7 p.m. March 4.

The district final tips at 6 p.m. March 6.


At Detroit Mumford
Oak Park High and Detroit Renaissance battle in a quarterfinal at 5 p.m. March 2, with the winner meeting in a semifinal at 5 p.m. March 4. On the other side of the bracket, the host and Warren Fitzgerald square off in a semi at 6:30 p.m. March 4.

The district final is at 5:30 p.m. March 6.


At Warren Cousino
Clinton Township Chippewa Valley and Sterling Heights Stevenson meet in a quarterfinal at 5 p.m. March 2. The winner moves on to face Warren Regina in a semi at 5 p.m. March 4. On the other side of the bracket, Utica Ford II and Warren Cousino square off in a quarterfinal at 7 p.m. March 2, with the survivor advancing to face Sterling Heights High at 7 p.m. March 4.

The district final starts at 6 p.m. March 6.


At Macomb L’Anse Creuse North
New Baltimore Anchor Bay and Macomb Dakota battle in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. March 2, with the winner getting Port Huron Northern in a semi at 5:30 p.m. March 4. On the other side of the pod, Port Huron High and L’Anse Creuse North meet in a semi at 7 p.m. March 4.

The district final is set for 6 p.m. March 6.


At Rochester Hills Stoney Creek
Troy Athens and Stoney Creek meet in a quarterfinal at 7 p.m. March 2. The survivor gets Utica Eisenhower in a semi at 7 p.m. March 4. The other side of the bracket sees Utica High and Troy High facing off in a quarterfinal at 5 p.m. March 2, with the winner meeting Rochester High in a semifinal at 5 p.m. March 4.

The district final tips at 7 p.m. March 6.


At St. Clair Shores Lake Shore
Fraser High and St. Clair Shores Lakeview square off in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. March 2. The winner gets Lake Shore in a semi at 5:30 p.m. March 4. On the other side of the pod, Roseville High and Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse meet in a semifinal at 7:15 p.m. March 4.

The district final is set for 6 p.m. March 6.


At Bloomfield Hills High
Bloomfield Hills and West Bloomfield High meet in a quarterfinal at 5 p.m. March 2, with the winner getting Waterford Mott in a semi at 5 p.m. March 4. The other side of the bracket sees Auburn Hills Avondale and Pontiac High battling in a semi at 7 p.m. March 4.

The district final tips at 7 p.m. March 6.


At Waterford Kettering
Rochester Adams and Oxford High square off in a quarterfinal at 5 p.m. March 2. The survivor meets Kettering in a semi at 5 p.m. March 4. On the other side, Clarkston takes on Romeo High at 6:30 p.m. March 2. The winner plays Lake Orion High at 6:30 p.m. March 4.

The district final is slated for 6 p.m. March 6.


At White Lake Lakeland
Milford High and Walled Lake Western meet in a quarterfinal at 7 p.m. March 2, with the winner advancing to face Lakeland in a semi at 7 p.m. March 4. The other side of the pod sees Walled Lake Northern and Walled Lake Central squaring off in a semi at 5 p.m. March 4.
The district final tips at 6 p.m. March 6.


Division 2
At Detroit Cody

Ferndale High received a bye through the district quarterfinals and will face the winner of a Detroit Cornerstone Health and Technology/Detroit Cody matchup in a semi at 5:30 p.m. March 4. The other side of the bracket comprises Detroit Old Redford Academy and Detroit Communication and Media Arts.

The district final is set for 5:30 p.m. March 6.


At Harper Woods Chandler Park Academy
Detroit Denby and the host meet in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. March 2, with the winner getting Harper Woods High in a semifinal at 5 p.m. March 4. On the other side of the bracket, St. Clair Shores South Lake and Detroit East English Village Academy square off in a semi at 7 p.m. March 4.

The district final is slated for 7 p.m. March 6.


At Redford Union
Southfield Bradford received a bye through the quarterfinal and will face the survivor of Detroit Henry Ford and Wixom St. Catherine in a semifinal at 5 p.m. March 4. The other side of the pod includes Livonia Clarenceville and Redford Union.

The district final tips at 6 p.m. March 6.


At Detroit Osborn
Center Line High and Warren Lincoln meet in a quarterfinal at 5 p.m. March 2. The winner moves on to face Hazel Park High in a semi at 4:30 p.m. March 4. On the other side of the bracket, Ferndale University and Detroit Osborn meet in a semifinal at 6 p.m. March 4.

The district final is set for 5:30 p.m. March 6.


At Marine City High
Macomb Lutheran North and Marine City square off in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. March 2, with the winner getting St. Clair High in a semi at 6 p.m. March 4. The other side of the pod includes Richmond High and Algonac High.

The district final tips at 6 p.m. March 6.


At Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day
Clawson High and the host meet in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. March 2. The winner moves on to meet Pontiac Notre Dame Prep in a semi at 5:30 p.m. March 4. The other side of the bracket sees Madison Heights Lamphere and Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood battling in a semi at 7 p.m. March 4.

The district final is set for 6 p.m. March 6.


Division 3
At Detroit Pershing

Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett and Detroit Community meet in a semifinal at 5:30 p.m. March 4. The other side of the bracket includes Detroit Central, the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy and Pershing.

The district final tips at 5:30 p.m. March 6.


At Clinton Township Clintondale
Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest and the host battle in a quarterfinal at 7 p.m. March 2. The winner moves on to face Pontiac Arts and Technology Academy in a semi at 5 p.m. March 4. On the other side of the bracket, Mount Clemens High and New Haven High square off in a semifinal at 7 p.m. March 4.

The district final tips at 7 p.m. March 6.


At Royal Oak Shrine
Shrine and Bloomfield Hills Academy of the Sacred Heart meet in a quarterfinal at 7 p.m. March 2. The winner advances to meet Warren Michigan Collegiate in a semifinal at 6 p.m. March 4. The other side of the pod sees Madison Heights Madison and Madison Heights Bishop Foley squaring off in a semi at 7:30 p.m. March 4.

The district final is set for 7 p.m. March 6.


Division 4
At Southfield Christian

Bloomfield Hills Roeper and Livingston Christian meet in a semifinal at 7 p.m. March 2. The winner gets Southfield Christian in a district final scheduled for 7 p.m. March 6.


At Auburn Hills Oakland Christian
Oakland Christian and Burton St. Thomas More Academy meet in a semifinal at 7:30 p.m. March 4. The other side of the bracket comprises Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes and Clarkston Everest Collegiate.

The district final is slated for 7 p.m. March 6.


At Sterling Heights Parkway Christian
Parkway Christian and Chesterfield Austin Catholic meet in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. March 2. The winner gets New Haven Merritt Academy in a semi at 5 p.m. March 4. The other side of the bracket sees Warren Michigan Math and Science facing Marine City Cardinal Mooney in a semifinal at 7 p.m. March 4.

The district final tips at 7 p.m. March 6.
