Last season’s record: 1-8
League: Charter School League
Returning starters: Eight
First game: 7 p.m. Aug. 29 vs. Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest

Offensive keys:
New coach Marcus Cribbs is looking to bring about a full turnaround for a program that has not made the playoffs since 1994. Mount Clemens tallied 104 points in 2018 — the team’s most in a season since 2014. The Bathers, though, were held to six points or less four times last season.

Senior quarterback Tayshaun Peterson will lead the Bathers offense. Peterson has a trio of targets in senior wide receivers Don Williams, Vermonte Cannon and Armani Cannon.

Anchoring the offensive line are seniors Dorian Anderson and Sam Joseph.

Defensive keys:
Mount Clemens let up 39.5 points per game in 2018, which was the highest in program history. The Bathers allowed at least 40 points in six games last season.

Peterson, along with Vermonte Cannon and Armani Cannon, will lead the Mount Clemens secondary. Anderson will be counted on the defensive line.

Coach’s outlook:
“We just want to come in and bring a new mindset,” Cribbs said. “We want to bring a winning mentality. The program has struggled really for the last decade or so, so we’re trying to turn things around — even outside of football. This is a total rebuild.”

vs. Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest (3-6) — 7 p.m. Aug. 29
This marks the second meeting between Mount Clemens and Northwest. The Crusaders beat the Bathers 62-34 last year. Mount Clemens’ last win in a season opener came in 1997.

vs. Opponent TBD — 7 p.m. Sept. 6

vs. Detroit University Prep Math and Science (2-6) — 7 p.m. Sept. 13
This is the first meeting between the Bathers and Cobras. University Prep, in seven seasons with varsity football, has never won more than two games in a season. Mount Clemens’ last winning season came in 1997.

at Warren Michigan Collegiate (8-2) — 7 p.m. Sept. 21
Mount Clemens’ first game as a member of the Charter School Conference comes against arguably the best program in the league. Collegiate has advanced to the playoffs 10 years in a row. Five of the Cougars’ wins in 2018 came by at least 30 points.

vs. Southfield Bradford (0-9) — 7 p.m. Sept. 27
Bradford scored only 28 points all of last season while giving up 303.

at Detroit Old Redford Academy (1-8) — 7 p.m. Oct. 4
It’s the second meeting between Mount Clemens and Old Redford. The Ravens blanked the Bathers 36-0 in 2016. Old Redford’s lone win last year came against Bradford.

vs. Harper Woods Chandler Park Academy (3-4) — 7 p.m. Oct. 11
Last season, Chandler Park missed the playoffs for just the second time in program history and the first time since 2008.

at Romulus Summit Academy (5-4) — 7 p.m. Oct. 18
This is the first meeting between the programs. The Dragons have finished the last two seasons with a record above .500 after going winless in 2015 and 2016.

at Detroit Community (8-2) — 4 p.m. Oct. 25
This is another first-time meeting for Mount Clemens. Community held six opponents to 12 points or less last season on its way to its first playoff appearance. Mount Clemens’ last playoff trip came in 1994.
