Season’s greetings
ROSEVILLE — Roseville’s 37th annual tree lighting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Dec. 7 at the City Hall Plaza, 29777 Gratiot Ave. A singalong will begin at 7 p.m.

The evening also will include Santa Claus, a s’mores station, hayrides, refreshments and goodie bags for kids. Spider-Man and Barbie are scheduled to make appearances. Dress warmly, as all the events occur outdoors.

 

Food distribution
EASTPOINTE — Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan will have food distribution from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Eastpointe Middle School circle drive, 24701 Kelly Road. Sweet victory for EHS students
EASTPOINTE — On Nov. 29, the Eastpointe High School culinary arts students finished in first place in a dessert competition held at the Italian American Cultural Society and Banquet Center in Clinton Township. The students prepared a Black Forest cheesecake topped with Chantilly cream, chocolate pieces and a candied cherry. The event was hosted by the Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union.

 

Students band together for winter concert
ROSEVILLE — The Roseville High School bands will present their winter band concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 inside the Roseville Middle School auditorium, located at 16250 Martin Road. Audience members will be treated to music from the cadet, varsity, symphonic and jazz bands. Admission is free.

 

Take the Roseville DDA’s survey
ROSEVILLE — The Roseville Downtown Development Authority is revising its downtown priorities and plan and would like public input. To take a survey online, go to surveymonkey.com/r/rosevilledda. Paper copies of the survey are available at the Roseville City Clerk’s Office, 29777 Gratiot Ave., during business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Survey responses are due by Dec. 18.

 

Celebrate Christmas with Charlie Brown
EASTPOINTE — Members of Pleasantview Elementary School will perform the classic “A Charlie Brown Christmas” at 5 p.m. Dec. 20 inside the Eastpointe High School auditorium, located at 15501 Couzens Ave., near Nine Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue. Along with the play, the school’s fifth-grade band and glee club will perform.

 

Christmastime craft
EASTPOINTE — Members of the community are invited to make a holiday cork craft Dec. 14 at the Eastpointe Memorial Library, located at 15875 Oak Ave. The craft-making will begin at 2 p.m. Call (586) 445-5096 for more information.

 

Pass the poinsettia
ROSEVILLE — Community Choice Credit Union’s Roseville Member Center will give away 100 poinsettias and offer free shredding services to members and nonmembers from 3 to 6 p.m. Dec. 11. The center’s address is 20778 13 Mile Road.

 

Blood donors needed
EASTPOINTE — An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Eastwood Odd Fellows Hall Post No. 496, located at 23322 Gratiot Ave. Donors must be at least 16 years old in most states, must be in good health and feeling well, and must weigh at least 110 pounds.
