HARPER WOODS — The Harper Woods Department of Public Safety is investigating a series of drive-by shootings that have taken place on Woodmont, Washtenaw and Roscommon streets.

According to a statement from the department Sept. 9, there have been four incidents that have taken place since May 1 in which multiple shots were fired at or into dwellings from moving vehicles.

The locations of the shootings have been in the 19600 block of Woodmont Street, the 18500 block of Washtenaw Street, the 19900 block of Washtenaw Street, and the 19400 block of Roscommon Street. Three of the dwellings were occupied at the time and one was unoccupied.

No one was injured as a result of the shootings.

“Members of the Harper Woods Department of Public Safety responded to each of these scenes followed by detective bureau investigations,” the Harper Woods Department of Public Safety posted on Nixle. “Detectives have been faced with the unfortunate challenge of complainants not willing to cooperate with the investigations. Despite this lack of cooperation, detectives continue to investigate these crimes and have made progress. Shell casing evidence has been linked to other shootings in surrounding jurisdictions. Harper Woods detectives are working with these other law enforcement agencies to identify suspects responsible for these shootings.”

Anyone with information on the shootings is asked to call Harper Woods police at (313) 343-2530. People also can call Crime Stoppers anonymously at (800) SPEAKUP.
