HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A 39-year-old New Baltimore man was arrested June 29 after he allegedly used his boat to attack another boater on Lake St. Clair.

According to Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Renee Yax, Timothy Kennedy was operating a red aluminum fishing boat near Brandenburg Park in New Baltimore just before 6 p.m. when he struck another boat and then fled the area.

Cellphone video captured by the unidentified victims shows Kennedy’s boat circling the larger vessel before coming up from the rear and striking it at a high rate of speed.

After obtaining a description of the suspect boat and driver, a sheriff’s patrol boat spotted Kennedy still onboard attempting to leave the area, Yax said. Kennedy was then stopped without incident.

Yax said Kennedy was reportedly intoxicated. He was arrested and arraigned for operating while intoxicated and misdemeanor destruction of property. Kennedy was given a $5,000 (10 percent) bond out of the 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore. He is scheduled to be back in court on July 15.

Yax said there were no injuries, but the victim’s boat was damaged. At press time, Kennedy was lodged in the Macomb County Jail, and he had no attorney listed.
