MOUNT CLEMENS — Now in its eighth year, the McLaren Let’s Move Festival of Races has become a familiar sight in downtown Mount Clemens.

The event, which organizers call the “unofficial start to the season’s outdoor health and fitness activities,” includes runs of various distances and activities for people of all ages on Saturday, April 28.

Organized by the Macomb Health and Fitness Foundation, the 2018 event begins at 7:30 a.m. with registration and check-in. Races begin with the half-marathon at 9 a.m. and continue with the Better Half 10K at 9:20 a.m., the Oakland University 5K at 9:40 a.m. and the Buffalo Wild Wings 1 Mile Run at 11 a.m.

“There’s truly something for everyone,” said event director Bob Busquaert. “And this is the perfect time of year for it. Spring is starting to break through and we’re all getting out a little more. What better way to celebrate than with a Saturday morning run through Mount Clemens with hundreds of other enthusiasts?”

Busquaert said April 28 will be a day to promote good health, and the event’s activities will be rounded out by fitness experts leading warmup exercises and offering practical fitness instruction, all in a family-friendly and fun atmosphere.

Race participants will also receive exclusive race-day discounts at Buffalo Wild Wings and Sorrento’s Pizza near the finish line.

“The event has become a staple to our community, adding to our collective health, which is our overall mission as a hospital,” said Kelley Lovati, a community relations representative at McLaren Macomb. “It always makes for a fun day, and McLaren Let’s Move is a perfect way to jump-start what will be an active spring and summer for a lot of people.”
