UTICA — With the cross country season coming to a close, Utica has come into its own this season after graduating talent on both the boys and girls sides.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — A man has been arraigned for allegedly murdering his mother-in-law in her Shelby Township home Oct. 12.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP/UTICA/STERLING HEIGHTS — Two recent Utica Community Schools graduates competed against students from 24 states and became national champions in a robotics and automation problem-solving competition this past summer.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP/UTICA/STERLING HEIGHTS — Five Utica Community Schools students are among the 16,000 U.S. high school seniors to be named 2024 National Merit semifinalists.

UTICA/STERLING HEIGHTS — Marcus Arambulo, of Boy Scout Troop No. 90, decided for his Eagle Scout project that he would help veterans by building a pergola at the American Legion Victor I. Rieck Post 351 in Utica.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Some Shelby Township police officers took time out of their day to help an injured deer that had been called in to them on Sept. 18.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — International Archaeology Day falls annually on the third Saturday in October, and the Packard Proving Grounds will be hosting archaeology related events in honor of this day, though not on the day itself.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — On Sept. 14, Shelby Township Police Lt. Jeffrey Bellomo graduated as a member of the 287th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
